Maricopa County has received more than 6,000 complaints about mosquito bites this season

Last year, the number of complaints was lower, around 1,000. The Vector Control Division says mosquito bite complaints have substantially increased after recent rains. Speaking on PBS's Arizona Horizon, Division Manager John Townsend said there are both daytime and nighttime-biting mosquitoes. He says the nighttime mosquitoes can be dangerous because they pick up West Nile virus and St. Louis encephalitis. "West Nile, which everybody talks about, are the nighttime biting mosquitoes and they pick that virus up from the birds," he said. He says the nighttime mosquitoes are fairly new to the Phoenix area. According to court records obtained by 12News, Chilly and the victims crossed paths as they were leaving a parking lot near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road last Saturday. Walgreens recalls 41,000 bottles of saline nasal spray over bacterial contamination

The recall affects Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray with Xylitol, sold in 1.5-ounce bottles. The Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as Class II, meaning use of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, though the probability of serious harm is remote. Testing revealed the presence of Pseudomonas lactis, a type of bacteria that can pose risks to people with weakened immune systems or compromised respiratory systems. The affected products were distributed nationwide and include two lot numbers: 71409, which expires Feb. 28, 2027, and 71861, which expires Aug. 31, 2027. The lot number and expiration date appear on the product packaging. The Philadelphia-based manufacturer initiated the recall Nov. 12 and has been notifying customers by letter. Rising Latin musician killed in California ambush shooting: Reports

Motorcyclist hit by bus after crashing into SUV in Mesa
